Zircon

SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Zircon is zirconium silicate, ZrSiO₄, crystallizing in the tetragonal system. It occurs in colorless, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, and blue varieties and has very high refractive index.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
It crystallizes as an accessory mineral in igneous and metamorphic rocks and survives weathering into sediments. Zircon crystals preserve some of Earth's oldest geologic ages and are fundamental to radiometric dating.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Zircon is traditionally associated with clarity, balance, resilience, and intentional personal growth. Its natural structure, color, and geological history provide a symbolic framework for approaching change with greater awareness. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for reflecting on priorities and choosing a more deliberate response instead of reacting automatically. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.

ACCURACY / TRADE-NAME NOTE
Valid mineral species. Some zircons contain uranium/thorium in trace amounts and can become metamict; gem treatments are common.
