Zebra Calcite is a color or growth-habit variety of calcite, calcium carbonate (CaCO₃). Calcite crystallizes in the trigonal system, has perfect rhombohedral cleavage, and reacts readily with dilute acid.

Calcite forms in sedimentary carbonate rocks, hydrothermal veins, caves, metamorphic marbles, and ore deposits. Color and crystal habit change with trace elements, inclusions, temperature, fluid chemistry, and growth rate.
