Vatican Stone (Frosterley Marble)

SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Frosterley Marble, sometimes marketed as Vatican Stone, is a dark fossiliferous Carboniferous limestone rather than true metamorphic marble. Pale fossil corals and other calcite fossils create striking patterns in a black carbonate matrix.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
It formed in shallow tropical seas in what is now northern England, where carbonate mud and coral remains accumulated and later lithified. It was historically quarried as a decorative building stone.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Vatican Stone (Frosterley Marble) is traditionally associated with clarity, balance, resilience, and intentional personal growth. Its natural structure, color, and geological history provide a symbolic framework for approaching change with greater awareness. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for reflecting on priorities and choosing a more deliberate response instead of reacting automatically. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.
