Turquoise

SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Turquoise is a hydrated copper aluminum phosphate, CuAl₆(PO₄)₄(OH)₈·4H₂O, occurring as blue, blue-green, and green massive, nodular, vein, and crust material.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
It forms in arid oxidized copper deposits where phosphate-bearing groundwater reacts with aluminum-rich host rocks. Major historic sources include Iran, Sinai, the southwestern United States, China, and Tibet.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Turquoise is traditionally associated with communication, insight, calm expression, and intuitive understanding. Its natural structure, color, and geological history provide a symbolic framework for approaching change with greater awareness. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for organizing complicated thoughts and expressing them with greater clarity. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.
