Sphalerite
SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Sphalerite is zinc sulfide, ZnS, the principal ore mineral of zinc. It crystallizes in the cubic system and may be yellow, red, brown, black, green, or colorless with very high luster.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
It forms in hydrothermal veins, Mississippi Valley-type deposits, volcanogenic massive sulfides, skarns, and sedimentary-exhalative ore systems.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Sphalerite is traditionally associated with clarity, balance, resilience, and intentional personal growth. Its dense metallic character is traditionally interpreted as a reminder to keep abstract goals connected to practical reality. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for reflecting on priorities and choosing a more deliberate response instead of reacting automatically. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.
