Sodalite

SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Sodalite is a sodium aluminosilicate chloride mineral, commonly Na₈(Al₆Si₆O₂₄)Cl₂, in the sodalite group. It is typically royal blue to violet-blue with white calcite veining but also occurs gray, green, yellow, or colorless.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
It forms in silica-poor alkaline igneous rocks such as nepheline syenites and phonolites, and in associated metasomatic environments.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Sodalite is traditionally associated with communication, insight, calm expression, and intuitive understanding. Its natural structure, color, and geological history provide a symbolic framework for approaching change with greater awareness. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for organizing complicated thoughts and expressing them with greater clarity. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.
