Smithsonite

Smithsonite

Smithsonite

SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Smithsonite is zinc carbonate, ZnCO₃, crystallizing in the trigonal system. It occurs in blue, green, pink, yellow, brown, white, and colorless botryoidal, stalactitic, massive, and rhombohedral forms.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
It is a secondary mineral in oxidized zinc deposits, forming from weathering of sphalerite and other zinc ores in carbonate-bearing environments.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Smithsonite is traditionally associated with clarity, balance, resilience, and intentional personal growth. Its natural structure, color, and geological history provide a symbolic framework for approaching change with greater awareness. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for reflecting on priorities and choosing a more deliberate response instead of reacting automatically. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.
