Shattuckite
SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Shattuckite is a hydrated copper silicate hydroxide mineral, commonly Cu₅(SiO₃)₄(OH)₂. It forms vivid blue to blue-green fibrous, botryoidal, massive, and prismatic material.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
It develops as a secondary mineral in oxidized copper deposits, often with chrysocolla, malachite, azurite, dioptase, and quartz. Important material comes from Namibia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Shattuckite is traditionally associated with communication, insight, calm expression, and intuitive understanding. Its natural structure, color, and geological history provide a symbolic framework for approaching change with greater awareness. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for organizing complicated thoughts and expressing them with greater clarity. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.
