Serpentine
SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Serpentine is a mineral group including antigorite, lizardite, chrysotile, and related magnesium silicate hydroxides. Material ranges from green, yellow-green, white, and black to fibrous or massive textures.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Serpentine minerals form during hydration of ultramafic mantle rocks in a process called serpentinization, commonly in ophiolites and subduction-related environments.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Serpentine is traditionally associated with clarity, balance, resilience, and intentional personal growth. Its natural structure, color, and geological history provide a symbolic framework for approaching change with greater awareness. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for reflecting on priorities and choosing a more deliberate response instead of reacting automatically. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.

ACCURACY / TRADE-NAME NOTE
Mineral group, not one species. Some serpentines are fibrous; avoid cutting or grinding without appropriate dust controls.
