Sardonyx

SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Sardonyx is a commercial onyx name. True onyx is straight-banded chalcedony (SiO₂), but decorative-stone markets also use 'onyx' for banded calcite or aragonite, so composition must be verified.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
True onyx forms through repeated silica deposition in cavities and fractures; carbonate onyx forms in spring, cave, and hydrothermal deposits.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Sardonyx is traditionally associated with clarity, balance, resilience, and intentional personal growth. Its natural structure, color, and geological history provide a symbolic framework for approaching change with greater awareness. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for reflecting on priorities and choosing a more deliberate response instead of reacting automatically. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.
