Sapphire

SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Sapphire is corundum, Al₂O₃, of any gem color other than red ruby. Blue sapphire is most familiar, with color commonly produced by iron and titanium; sapphires also occur in yellow, pink, green, purple, and colorless varieties.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Corundum forms in aluminum-rich, silica-poor metamorphic and igneous environments. Gem deposits occur in marbles, basalt-associated rocks, pegmatitic contacts, and placer deposits worldwide.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Sapphire is traditionally associated with communication, insight, calm expression, and intuitive understanding. Its natural structure, color, and geological history provide a symbolic framework for approaching change with greater awareness. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for organizing complicated thoughts and expressing them with greater clarity. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.
