Pyrite

SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Pyrite is iron disulfide, FeS₂, crystallizing in the cubic system. It commonly forms cubes, pyritohedra, octahedra, framboids, nodules, and massive brassy metallic aggregates.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
It forms in hydrothermal veins, sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks, magmatic sulfide systems, and many ore deposits. It is one of Earth's most widespread sulfide minerals.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Pyrite is traditionally associated with confidence, motivation, creativity, and purposeful action. Its dense metallic character is traditionally interpreted as a reminder to keep abstract goals connected to practical reality. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for turning an idea into a realistic next step and sustaining momentum. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.

ACCURACY / TRADE-NAME NOTE
Valid sulfide mineral. Some pyrite can oxidize in humid conditions and produce acidic iron sulfates.
