Purple Selenite is a color or growth variety of gypsum, CaSO₄·2H₂O. Gypsum crystallizes in the monoclinic system and is exceptionally soft with perfect cleavage.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
It forms in evaporite deposits, saline lakes, caves, and sulfate-rich hydrothermal or weathering environments. Color comes from inclusions, iron oxides, clays, or other trace material.
