Prehnite
SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Prehnite is a calcium aluminum silicate hydroxide, Ca₂Al(AlSi₃O₁₀)(OH)₂, usually pale green, yellow-green, white, or colorless. It commonly forms botryoidal, radiating, and tabular aggregates.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
It forms at low temperatures in basalt cavities, hydrothermal veins, and low-grade metamorphic rocks, commonly with epidote, calcite, quartz, and zeolites.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Prehnite is traditionally associated with growth, renewal, compassion, and grounded abundance. Its natural structure, color, and geological history provide a symbolic framework for approaching change with greater awareness. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for making constructive changes without abandoning patience or emotional balance. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.
