Peridot

SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Peridot is gem-quality olivine, usually forsterite-rich (Mg,Fe)₂SiO₄. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic system and is naturally yellow-green to olive green because iron is intrinsic to the mineral structure.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Olivine forms in Earth's upper mantle and in mafic to ultramafic igneous rocks. Gem peridot reaches the surface in basaltic eruptions or is mined from mantle-derived peridotite; major sources include Pakistan, Myanmar, Arizona, and China.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Peridot is traditionally associated with growth, renewal, compassion, and grounded abundance. Its natural structure, color, and geological history provide a symbolic framework for approaching change with greater awareness. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for making constructive changes without abandoning patience or emotional balance. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.
