Moonstone
SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Moonstone is a feldspar gem material showing adularescence, a floating bluish or white sheen produced by microscopic exsolution layers between feldspar phases. Traditional moonstone is commonly orthoclase-adularia intergrowth, though commercial usage is broader.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
It forms in feldspar-rich igneous rocks and pegmatites. Slow cooling allows feldspar to unmix into thin lamellae that scatter light and produce the optical effect.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Moonstone is traditionally associated with clarity, balance, resilience, and intentional personal growth. Its optical sheen emerges from internal structure rather than surface color, making it a fitting symbol for qualities that become visible only from certain perspectives. Practitioners commonly use it as a contemplative aid for reflecting on priorities and choosing a more deliberate response instead of reacting automatically. These associations are part of crystal traditions and are not scientifically established medical effects.
