Mango Quartz

SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Mango Quartz is a trade name for quartz crystals from Boyacá, Colombia, showing natural yellow-orange coloration concentrated near crystal tips and surfaces. The host is quartz, SiO₂. Fine clay-mineral inclusions, commonly proposed to be halloysite, are widely cited as a contributor to the mango-yellow appearance, although detailed inclusion chemistry can vary.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
The crystals occur in hydrothermal vein systems within sedimentary carbonate rocks of Colombia's Eastern Cordillera, a region also famous for emerald mineralization. Silica-rich fluids crystallized quartz in fractures and cavities while fine included material became trapped during growth. Some crystals are double-terminated or twinned.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Mango Quartz is traditionally associated with optimism, courage, creativity, opportunity, self-confidence, and making space for new experiences. Its warm coloration and clear quartz body combine symbolism of enthusiasm with mental clarity.

ACCURACY / TRADE-NAME NOTE
Trade variety of included quartz, not a separate mineral species. Halloysite is a plausible inclusion phase but should not be assumed in every specimen without analysis.
