Mangano Calcite
SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Mangano Calcite is manganese-bearing pink calcite, CaCO₃, in which Mn²⁺ substitutes for some calcium. It crystallizes in the trigonal system and occurs as pale pink to rose-colored rhombohedral crystals, masses, and botryoidal growths. Many specimens fluoresce pink, orange, or red under ultraviolet light because of manganese activation.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Mangano Calcite forms in hydrothermal manganese and polymetallic ore deposits, carbonate veins, and cavities where calcium- and manganese-rich fluids precipitate together. It commonly occurs with rhodochrosite, quartz, sulfides, fluorite, and other carbonates. Important specimens come from Peru, Romania, Bulgaria, Mexico, and several African deposits.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Mangano Calcite is traditionally associated with compassion, emotional healing, forgiveness, self-love, and creating a gentler internal dialogue. Its soft pink color makes it strongly heart-centered, while calcite's crystal structure adds symbolism of clarity and release.
