Magma Chalcedony
SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Magma Chalcedony is a recent trade name for red-patterned chalcedony from Java, Indonesia. The host is microcrystalline quartz, while dark red to brown orbicular, banded, or irregular features are produced by iron oxide inclusions and staining. Small druzy quartz pockets may occur.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
The material formed in volcanic terrain where silica-rich fluids filled cavities and fractures and later iron-bearing fluids produced contrasting red patterns. Multiple stages of chalcedony growth, oxidation, and mineral inclusion create its complex internal textures.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Magma Chalcedony is traditionally associated with grounding, passion, courage, creativity, and sustained personal energy. Its red patterns within a stable silica body provide symbolism of strong motivation contained within structure rather than uncontrolled intensity.
KEY PROPERTIES
Grounding • Passion • Courage • Creativity • Motivation • Strength • Persistence
CHAKRA: Root • Sacral
ELEMENT: Fire • Earth
ZODIAC: Aries • Scorpio
MOHS HARDNESS: 6.5–7
ACCURACY / TRADE-NAME NOTE
Trade variety of chalcedony, not a separate mineral species. Chalcedony normally has hardness ~6.5–7 even if lower values appear in trade descriptions.
