Lattice Lace Agate
SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Lattice Lace Agate is a trade variety of agate/chalcedony characterized by intricate intersecting lines, geometric networks, and lace-like internal patterns. The host is microcrystalline quartz. Some specimens appear to record replacement or pseudomorphic growth around earlier minerals, but the exact precursor phase should not be assumed without analysis.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
The material forms through repeated silica deposition and replacement within cavities and fractures. Changes in mineral templates, fluid chemistry, and growth direction can create lattice-like structures before later chalcedony fills remaining spaces. Commercial Lattice Lace Agate is especially associated with Chihuahua, Mexico.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Lattice Lace Agate is traditionally associated with organization, communication, truth, perspective, and recognizing structure inside complicated circumstances. Its crossing internal lines provide symbolism of connections that may not be obvious until the entire pattern is viewed together.
