Kiwi Jasper
SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Kiwi Jasper is a modern trade name for pale mint-green to gray-green ornamental rock dotted with black, white, and translucent mineral grains. It is not a formal jasper species. Commercial material is commonly described as a mixed feldspar-, quartz-, mica-, and dark-mineral rock, and exact composition can vary among suppliers.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
The stone records crystallization and later alteration of a multi-mineral rock rather than deposition of one uniform chalcedony body. Pale feldspathic or silica-rich host material contains darker accessory minerals and lighter quartz-rich grains that create its characteristic speckled texture. New Zealand is commonly cited in trade naming, but provenance should be documented.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Kiwi Jasper is traditionally associated with calm, emotional support, grounding, cooperation, and maintaining a balanced perspective during demanding periods. Its speckled appearance symbolizes different components coexisting within one stable whole.
