Kammererite
SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Kammererite is a historical varietal name for chromium-bearing clinochlore, a chlorite-group sheet silicate. Chromium gives the material its distinctive violet, raspberry, purple, or reddish color. Like other chlorites it has perfect basal cleavage, a pearly luster, and a low Mohs hardness near 2–2.5.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Chromian clinochlore forms in metamorphosed chromium-rich ultramafic rocks, especially serpentinites and related alteration zones. It may occur with chromite, uvarovite, serpentine minerals, and other chromium-bearing phases. Fine specimens are particularly associated with Turkey, Russia, India, and several Alpine-type localities.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Kammererite is traditionally associated with intuition, emotional balance, spiritual reflection, and staying grounded while exploring unfamiliar ideas. Its vivid purple color gives it contemplative symbolism, while its chlorite-group identity keeps the overall theme connected to Earth and gradual transformation.
