Japan Law Twin
SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Japan Law Twin refers to a distinctive twinning relationship in quartz, SiO₂, rather than a separate mineral species. Two quartz crystals intergrow so their c-axes meet at an angle of about 84°33′, commonly producing a flattened V- or heart-like form. The crystals retain quartz's trigonal structure and Mohs hardness of 7.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Japan-law twins form in open hydrothermal cavities, Alpine-type fissures, pegmatitic environments, and quartz veins where two crystal individuals nucleate in the required crystallographic orientation and have sufficient space to grow together. Fine examples are known from Japan, Peru, Madagascar, the United States, and other quartz localities.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Japan Law Twin Quartz is traditionally associated with cooperation, balance, relationships, perspective, and maintaining individuality while working in partnership. Its two intergrown crystals make it a direct symbol of separate structures sharing one growth relationship without losing their distinct identity.

ACCURACY / TRADE-NAME NOTE
Quartz twinning law, not a separate mineral. The defining feature is crystallographic orientation, not simply two quartz crystals touching.
