Honey Comb Calcite is a distinctive honey-yellow to amber calcite from Utah, composed primarily of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃). Its internal honeycomb-like appearance results from growth patterns, cleavage, inclusions, and color zoning rather than a separate crystal structure. Like all calcite it has perfect rhombohedral cleavage and a Mohs hardness of 3.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Utah Honeycomb Calcite occurs in carbonate-rich deposits where mineralized fluids precipitated calcite with iron, manganese, or other trace components that created warm coloration and internal patterning. It is a decorative stone strongly associated with northeastern Utah and has become recognized as a distinctive regional material.
