Honey Calcite is a honey-yellow, amber, or golden-brown variety of calcite, CaCO₃. It crystallizes in the trigonal system and retains calcite's perfect rhombohedral cleavage, strong double refraction in clear material, and Mohs hardness of 3. Warm coloration commonly reflects iron-bearing impurities, organic matter, or other trace components.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Honey Calcite forms in hydrothermal veins, sedimentary carbonate rocks, caves, and replacement deposits. Mineral-rich fluids deposit calcite in fractures or open cavities, and changing impurity content creates yellow, cream, caramel, and brown zoning. Mexico is a major commercial source.
