Hollandite in Quartz is quartz containing black to dark brown inclusions of hollandite-group manganese-barium oxides, often arranged as tiny radiating stars, needles, or dendritic clusters. The quartz host is SiO₂ and has a hardness of 7; the included oxide phase is compositionally distinct.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
The material forms when manganese- and barium-bearing minerals are present during quartz growth. Early hollandite-group crystals can develop on growth surfaces or within cavities before later silica seals them inside. Fine star-like inclusions are especially known from Madagascar.
