Healer's Gold
SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Healer's Gold is a trade name generally applied to natural intergrowths of pyrite and magnetite. Pyrite is iron sulfide, FeS₂, while magnetite is iron oxide, Fe₃O₄. The material may show bright brassy metallic areas against dark black magnetic matrix, and it is a mineral association rather than one mineral species.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Pyrite and magnetite can occur together in hydrothermal, metamorphic, skarn, and iron-rich igneous environments. Commercial Healer's Gold is especially associated with Arizona. The combination records changing sulfur and oxygen conditions during mineralization, allowing sulfide and oxide phases to coexist.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Healer's Gold is traditionally associated with confidence, energy, grounding, boundaries, and maintaining strength while supporting others. The bright pyrite symbolizes motivation and personal power, while magnetite contributes grounding and directional focus. It is often used as a reminder that helping others is more sustainable when one's own foundation remains strong.
