Green Tanzurine is a trademarked name for green quartz-rich material from northern Tanzania. Published gemological work has described green Tanzurine as quartz or aventurescent quartzite colored by chromium-bearing mica, especially fuchsite; different lots may vary in texture and exact inclusions. It is not a separate mineral species.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
The material occurs in metamorphic quartz-rich rocks in the Arusha region of Tanzania. Quartz recrystallized together with chromium-bearing mica during metamorphism, producing green coloration and, in some material, aventurescent sparkle. Textural studies show that it can differ from classic Indian aventurine in grain size and orientation of mica.
