Desert Jasper

SCIENCE / MINERALOGY
Desert Jasper is a trade name commonly used for colorful jasper-rich material, often overlapping commercially with Polychrome Jasper. It is composed mainly of microcrystalline quartz and chalcedony with iron oxides, clay minerals, and other inclusions that create flowing red, tan, brown, cream, green, and gray patterns.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
The material forms through silica-rich alteration, replacement, and fracture filling in volcanic or sedimentary rocks. Repeated fluid movement and iron oxidation create broad swirls and landscape-like color zones. Commercial Desert Jasper is strongly associated with Madagascar.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Desert Jasper is traditionally associated with grounding, vitality, adaptability, creative confidence, and maintaining emotional steadiness through change.
