Dalmatian Stone, often incorrectly called Dalmatian Jasper, is a pale feldspar- and quartz-rich igneous rock with contrasting dark spots. Modern descriptions commonly identify the black inclusions as amphibole, including arfvedsonite in studied material, rather than tourmaline. Its spotted appearance is therefore an igneous mineral texture rather than jasper patterning.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
The stone forms from silica-rich magma containing feldspar, quartz, and dark iron-rich accessory minerals. As magma cools, dark crystals become dispersed through the lighter host, producing the familiar spotted appearance. Commercial material is strongly associated with Chihuahua, Mexico.
