Coquimbite is a hydrated ferric sulfate mineral, commonly written Fe₂(SO₄)₃·9H₂O, and may contain aluminum substitution. It crystallizes in the trigonal system and forms pale violet, purple, pink, yellowish, or colorless crystals and crusts. It is very soft and highly soluble in water.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Coquimbite is a secondary oxidation product of iron sulfides such as pyrite, especially in arid mine environments and acidic sulfate-rich settings. It can form on mine walls, waste piles, fumarolic areas, and strongly oxidized sulfide deposits where evaporation concentrates iron sulfate solutions.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Coquimbite is traditionally associated with transformation, emotional release, intuitive reflection, and examining what emerges after old structures break down. Its delicate water-soluble nature makes it a strong symbol of impermanence and change. It is often used as a display mineral for contemplative work around letting go and adapting.
