Celestite, also spelled celestine, is strontium sulfate (SrSO₄). It crystallizes in the orthorhombic system and forms tabular, prismatic, fibrous, nodular, and massive habits. Pale sky-blue crystals are the best-known variety, though colorless, white, yellow, orange, and reddish material also occurs.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Celestite forms in sedimentary evaporite deposits, geodes and cavities in carbonate rocks, and some hydrothermal environments. It is frequently associated with gypsum, calcite, sulfur, and halite. Major commercial sources include Madagascar, Mexico, Egypt, Poland, and parts of the United States.
