Brazilianite is a rare sodium-aluminum phosphate hydroxide mineral with the formula NaAl₃(PO₄)₂(OH)₄. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system and is best known for transparent to translucent yellow, chartreuse, and yellow-green prismatic crystals. It has distinct cleavage, a vitreous to slightly greasy luster, and a Mohs hardness of about 5.5.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Brazilianite is a late-stage phosphate mineral most strongly associated with evolved granitic pegmatites. These pegmatites concentrate phosphorus, sodium, aluminum, lithium, and other elements into residual fluids that crystallize unusual phosphate minerals. The type material came from Minas Gerais, Brazil, which remains the classic source; additional occurrences are known from New Hampshire, Rwanda, and several other pegmatite districts.
