Blueberry Fluorite is a trade name for an unusually dark navy- to blueberry-blue variety of fluorite, calcium fluoride (CaF₂). Fluorite crystallizes in the cubic system and commonly develops cubes and octahedra, but this material may also occur as granular, druzy, globular, or octahedral growth on quartz matrix. Its saturated blue color reflects color centers and trace-element or defect chemistry within the fluorite lattice.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
The best-known commercial Blueberry Fluorite comes from Inner Mongolia, China, where dark blue fluorite occurs with quartz in hydrothermal mineralization. Fluorite generally crystallizes from fluorine-rich hydrothermal fluids moving through fractures and cavities, commonly alongside quartz, calcite, barite, sulfides, and other vein minerals. The precise color mechanism can vary between fluorite deposits, so it should not be assigned to one trace element without analysis.
