Blue Tiger Eye, often called Hawk's Eye, is a chatoyant quartz material formed through replacement of fibrous amphibole by silica while preserving the original parallel fiber structure. It represents an earlier or less oxidized stage of the geological process that can produce golden-brown Tiger Eye. The silky moving band of light is caused by its aligned fibrous texture.
GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Tiger Eye develops in iron-rich metamorphic rocks where fibrous amphibole veins are progressively replaced and altered by quartz. Changes in iron oxidation help determine blue-gray, golden, or reddish colors. Major deposits occur in South Africa, with additional sources elsewhere.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Blue Tiger Eye is traditionally associated with calm focus, situational awareness, confidence, and balanced decision-making. Compared with golden Tiger Eye, it is often described as more reflective and less activating, making it useful symbolically when patience and observation are more valuable than immediate action.
