Blue Chalcedony is a blue variety of chalcedony, the compact microcrystalline form of quartz. It is made of intergrown microscopic quartz and moganite and commonly forms botryoidal, massive, crust-like, or cavity-filling material. Soft blue color can result from light scattering by extremely fine structural features and inclusions.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Chalcedony precipitates from silica-rich fluids in volcanic cavities, sedimentary rocks, hydrothermal veins, and weathering environments. Blue material occurs at multiple localities worldwide, including Turkey, Namibia, Malawi, the United States, and other silica-rich provinces.
