Blue Aragonite is a blue variety of aragonite, CaCO₃, one of the principal calcium-carbonate polymorphs. Unlike trigonal calcite, aragonite crystallizes in the orthorhombic system and commonly develops acicular, fibrous, radiating, pseudohexagonal twinned, or massive habits. Blue coloration generally results from trace impurities or fine inclusions.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Aragonite forms in marine shells, caves, hot springs, hydrothermal veins, evaporitic settings, and oxidized mineral deposits. Blue specimens occur where the local chemistry introduces color-producing impurities during low-temperature growth. Notable material has come from Morocco, China, Austria, Greece, and Mexico.
