Aurichalcite is a hydrated zinc-copper carbonate hydroxide mineral, commonly written (Zn,Cu)₅(CO₃)₂(OH)₆. It forms delicate pale blue, blue-green, or turquoise acicular and fibrous crystal sprays. The copper produces its characteristic blue-green coloration.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Aurichalcite is a secondary mineral of oxidized zinc-copper ore deposits. It forms near the surface as primary sulfide minerals weather and react with carbonate-bearing groundwater. It commonly occurs with smithsonite, hemimorphite, malachite, azurite, hydrozincite, and other supergene minerals.
