Atlantisite is a trade name for an ornamental rock composed mainly of green serpentine containing purple stichtite, a hydrated chromium-magnesium carbonate mineral. It is therefore a mixed rock rather than a single mineral species. Much of the classic material comes from Tasmania, Australia.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Stichtite forms through alteration of chromium-bearing ultramafic rocks, commonly where serpentinization has already converted olivine- and pyroxene-rich rocks into serpentine minerals. The purple stichtite occurs as patches, veins, or masses within the green serpentine host, creating the distinctive color contrast.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Atlantisite is traditionally associated with emotional healing, compassion, forgiveness, grounding, and integrating higher ideals with everyday behavior. Green serpentine contributes symbolism of renewal and Earth connection, while purple stichtite is associated with compassion and perspective. Together, the material is often used for examining conflict, softening defensiveness, and choosing growth without abandoning healthy boundaries.
