Arsenopyrite is an iron arsenic sulfide mineral with the formula FeAsS. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system and commonly forms silver-white to steel-gray prismatic, striated, or massive crystals with a bright metallic luster. It is one of the most common arsenic-bearing minerals.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Arsenopyrite occurs in hydrothermal veins, high-temperature ore deposits, skarns, pegmatites, and metamorphic rocks. It is commonly associated with quartz, pyrite, chalcopyrite, gold-bearing ores, cassiterite, and other sulfides. Weathering can release arsenic-bearing secondary minerals, making handling and disposal considerations important.
