Apophyllite is a mineral-group name commonly used in the gem and crystal trade for members such as fluorapophyllite-(K) and hydroxyapophyllite-(K). These hydrated potassium-calcium silicates typically form square or pseudo-cubic tetragonal crystals with pearly cleavage and strong vitreous luster. Clear, white, green, and pale pink material is common.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Apophyllite-group minerals are classic low-temperature secondary minerals in cavities and vesicles of basaltic volcanic rocks. They often crystallize with zeolites, stilbite, heulandite, calcite, and prehnite as hydrothermal fluids circulate through cooled lava. India is especially famous for exceptional specimens from Deccan Trap basalt cavities.
