Chinese Bladed Calcite is a distinctive habit of calcite, calcium carbonate (CaCO₃), in which crystals grow as thin blades or flattened aggregates. Many specimens contain manganese that produces a strong orange to pink fluorescence under ultraviolet light. Although the crystal habit is unusual, the mineral itself retains calcite's trigonal structure and perfect rhombohedral cleavage.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
This material forms in hydrothermal or carbonate-rich mineral environments where calcium-bearing fluids precipitate calcite along fractures and open spaces. Changes in growth conditions can favor bladed morphology, while manganese becomes incorporated as a trace impurity. Fine commercial specimens are especially associated with Hunan Province, China, with similar material reported elsewhere.
