Blue Flower Agate is a modern trade name for blue-toned agate or chalcedony containing opaque plume, orbicular, or dendritic inclusions that create flower-like internal patterns. The host material is microcrystalline quartz rather than a separate mineral species. The exact mineral identity of the inclusions can vary.

GEOLOGY & FORMATION
Flower-patterned chalcedony develops when silica fills cavities in volcanic rocks in multiple stages. Changes in fluid chemistry create plume-like or branching inclusions before later silica seals the cavity. Commercial Blue Flower Agate is strongly associated with Madagascar and entered the market after the better-known pink and peach flower-agate material.
